What to Expect

Things will look and run a little differently to usual, so please be prepared for this and help us to keep each other safe by following new procedures and adhering to signage around the site.

Museum exhibits will remain closed for the foreseeable future and any events will be garden-only, so please come dressed for all weathers and check the website on the morning of your visit for any changes.

Please aim to arrive at least 5 minutes before the start of your session and queue at the main gate of the museum’s Church Street entrance at the sign, adhering to social distancing marks on the ground.

Failure to bring your ticket may result in you being turned away.

At the beginning of your session, a member of our learning team will greet you, confirm your details and give a brief safety and activity introduction. Our learning team member will choose whether to wear PPE (following government guidance) and if so, this may be a mask or a clear visor, or no PPE.

Once you enter the site, floor markings and signs will show a one-way route and the garden will be set up for a maximum of 4 socially-distanced groups at a time (of up to 5 people with at least 1 adult per group). All resources, areas and items will be cleaned in line with government guidelines and reset for the next ‘bubble’ of explorers.

After your introduction, your group will be given a backpack filled with everything you will need during your time with us, such as a site map, bug hunting kit and lots of bug-tastic facts and things to do.

Your group will stay together and visit 4 different zones in total during the visit.  You will be given 20 minutes at each activity zone before heading to the next.

Hand sanitiser will be available at each activity zone and at various locations around the site and at entrances/exits. Please help yourselves.

We also hope that you will help us by wiping down any items or surfaces that you may have touched at the end of your time at each activity.

Before leaving, you will be asked to hand back resources ready for cleaning, but you are welcome to take any crafts and paper activities home with you.

Learning staff will be on hand to help and advise you on your adventure but will follow social-distancing guidelines.

Please allow us a few days to get back to you to arrange booking confirmation due to reduced staff working hours.
