A display of entries from the My Golden Moments ArtFest competition
17 March – 14 April 2018
The Arts Society, formerly known as NADFAS, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. To mark this special occasion, the local Societies in the Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire area have put on an exhibition, showcasing the talents of young local artists from 5-18 years called My Golden Moment. On display are photographs of all the artworks entered, together with the prize-winners’ entries.
The Arts Society had its origins in Buckinghamshire, two of the original societies being Chiltern and Vale of Aylesbury and there are now 26 societies within the Chiltern Hills/Wyvern areas, with a total membership over 7,000. Since its inception, involving young people in the arts has been central to the purpose of The Arts Society, through bursaries, school projects, art exhibitions and competitions.
Members of The Arts Society, Chiltern Hills Area also provide some financial support to the Arts at the tertiary level. The Koestler Trust is the UK’s leading prison arts charity, harnessing the transformational power of the arts to help prisoners in their rehabilitative journeys and to lead more positive lives. Bishopsland is a silversmith training college in Berkshire that aims to prepare the artists to manage a financially viable business alongside their artistic skills. More recently support has been given to students at the local Bucks New University in the fields of product design and textiles.
Come along and enjoy the entries on show in the Museum’s Georgian Room.
